Estibaliz Pereira Rabade has been crowned Miss Espana (Spain) 2009.
Rabade, 22, was crowned Miss Espana in Cancun, Mexico over the weekend, making her the first Miss Spain to be crowned outside of the country.
Miss Spain President, Andres Cid, told ThinkSpain the event's move was a result of the worldwide economic situation. However, it is likely that Miss Spain will take place in other world destinations in the future.
As a result of her win, Rabade will represent Spain at both the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants during her one year reign. But she does not have much time to prepare or relax with the crown. The Miss Universe pageant begins August 1.
Rabade's predecessor, Patricia Rodriguez, says her time as Miss Spain was "marvelous".
